AUTO REPAIR

Auto Repair

Improve your late model car or truck’s performance and stay within your dealer’s warranty guidelines by having Sparks Performance in San Juan Capistrano, CA repair and maintain your vehicle. You can depend on us to find the problem fast and do the necessary work to get you back on the road in a timely manner. Based on your vehicle’s condition, we do:

Engine Tune-ups

As part of your engine tune-up, our mechanics will inspect the engine’s fuel-system components, making sure the fuel filter and injectors are clean and clog-free. If not inspected regularly, it could cause damage to the fuel pump.

Our team will look for wear and tear of spark plugs, check if replacement of points and condenser are needed, inspect the engine’s PCV valve,  many any necessary adjustments to ignition timing, check the engine and cabin air filters, and check oil and coolant levels.

Additional engine services include repairs and replacement of diagnostics, fuel pump, crank case vent and vapor canister filters, PCV valves, ignition wires and modules, emissions, engine sensors, coil packs, and distributor cap and rotor.

Transmission Service & Rebuilds

Signs of a problem with your transmission include if it is slipping between gears while you are driving or popping back into neutral, if fluid smells burnt, if the clutch is dragging, if there is lag or delay between gear changes, or if there is a grinding or thumping when a gear changes instead of smooth transitions.

Transmission problems can be avoided by regularly changing a car’s transmission fluid or getting your transmission flushed. However, our team is aware that even with proper maintenance, issues still may arise.

Fixing transmission problems is a specialty of ours. Often times a full rebuild may not be warranted such as if an input shaft breaks or a solenoid fails. If you have a leak, our team might be able to just replace external seals. If a full rebuild is needed, the transmission is disassembled and inspected, worn or damaged parts are replaced and reassembling is done based on factory specifications.

Brakes

Brake replacement is a common service for vehicle drivers. Our team will make sure to service your brakes in accordance with vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations. If necessary, we will replace drums and rotors at the same time as your brake pads for complete service.

In case of an emergency, you want to make sure you can stop quickly. If your brakes make a squealing sound when you break, this might be a sign you need them replaced. Also if your brake pedal seems to require pressing farther to the floor than usual, the vehicle pulls to the right or left when you brake, or you hear unusual noises and feel vibrations during this time, this might be a sign you need a brake inspection.

Clutches

A clutch is a mechanical device that engages and disengages the power transmission. Two types of clutches are two-wheel and four-wheel.

When a clutch fails, it could slip, shudder, or be unusually difficult to depress. Rate of clutch wear depends on driving style and geographical landscape for which you drive.

Clutch repair or replacement may include replacing pressure plate, clutch disc, and a release bearing. When you need a clutch replaced, our mechanics may also replace or resurface the flywheel or replace the slave cylinder so they don’t have to remove the transmission.
